Often times, a non-profit or business wants to list the logos of their partners on their website. However, logo files come in all different shapes and sizes. For example, the page below is a screenshot of a non-profit sponsorship page on a client site. This client didn’t like the inconsistent presentation of the logos from their partners and needed to resize images. 

How to Resize an Image Without Photoshop? 

Most people either don’t have Photoshop or don’t know how to use Photoshop. The good news is that there are other options. One of the one’s we recommend is Pixlr.com, an online photo editing tool.

For this tutorial, we are going to make the logo image below, which is rectangular in size, square.

Step 1: Navigate to Pixlr Editor

Locate Pixlr.com online and select the Pixlr Web Editor option.

Step 2: Add or Upload Image

In this example, since the logo is on our computer, we are going

At this point, the image is opened in Pixlr and ready for editing.

Step 3: Adjust Image Size

Navigate to Image>Canvas Size.

In the pop-up, change the canvas size so that the width and the height are identical. Select the Anchor center option so that the image is centered. Then, press OK.

The image should not be fully square. If the entire image is not showing, navigate to the bottom right corner of the image box, and use triangle to expand the image fully.

Step 4: Save Image

In the last step, navigate to file and save the resized image.

 

You’re rectangle image is now square. You’re done.
